Here are a couple of other thoughts concerning the President. I find it interesting that there is such a rush to close the Guantanomo prison. In fact George Bush got quite a reputation for doing what he thought was right. Come to find out that 2 of the people that were held there, who were released a few years ago were in fact Al Quaida commanders, who are now fighting against the USA again.
Now that the prison will be closing there is a fight to see where the prisoners will be held. The states are fighting amongst each other, because they do not want dangerous terrorists in their state. It seems that perhaps we should thought of that before we demonized President Bush.
I find it interesting that President Obama tried to extend a hand to Iran, and the president of that country pretty much told us to take a hike. I appreciate diplomacy, but can you negotiate with someone who hates you?
Finally, President Obama issued a stern rebuke to Wall Street executives who received $18 billion in bonuses, while the company’s they were running went bankrupt. That is nice that he rebuked them, but do mere words mean anything? It seems that Barak can make us all feel better by talking about situations, but we need more than words. We need to make tough decisions sometimes. Many will not like those decisions, but that is leadership. I hope Barak Obama will be a man of more than words.
In reflecting on George Bush’s presidency, I have come to one conclusion. He may have made mistakes, but at least he made decisions based on what he thought was right and held firm to his convictions (except the Wall Street bailout! that was very naughty of you George!) I hope that President Obama will do the same. I think that the presidency is a harder job than any of us can imagine! Let us pray for our President!
Let me preface this by saying that I pray for President Obama often. Although I hope he succeeds, I have my concerns over the new President. I was very hopeful that he may be better than I thought. The appointment of a pro-Israeli Chief of Staff was a pleasant surprise.
However, in his first week of office he has done a great deal of damage to pro-life causes. First of all he has authorized stem cell research. On the surface it seems that stem cell research is a great idea, but there is this little issue called ethics. Is it really o.k. to destroy a possible human life? Follow me on this. There is a lady who just had octuplets. The doctors suggested that she selectively downsized the number of babies in her stomach so that the others had a better chance of survival. In other words play God and decide which ones would live. Well come to find out, she delivered all of them and they lived. According to doctors, some of these babies deserved to die. I see a lot of similarities between stem cell research and the Nazi’s doing experiments with retarded children. According to stem cell research supporters, embryos are just sitting around and will probably never be used, so let’s destroy them so a greater good can happen. Well the Nazi’s thought the same thing about handicapped kids. They were really useless. Perhaps by doing some medical experiments that some holier than thou do gooders would consider cruel, we could actually come up with some cures to these diseases. When is a life a life?
Next President Obama has began giving tax payer money to international organizations that promote and perform abortions. To think that my money is being given to organizations that perform abortions is ludicrous! It is bad enough that abortions happen, but to make someone pay for an abortion who opposes the procedure makes me very angry.
I don’t want to make people feel bad and point fingers. I want us to take an honest look at abortion and see it for what it is. I was blinded by the spirit of the age for a while, and did not really see the reality of abortion. We need to stop sacrificing our children for the sake of convenience.
A few years ago I was reading the book of Jeremiah. God was really angry with Israel, because they had started worshipping a fertility god named Molech. They began performing human sacrifices to Molech. God ended up judging Israel and they suffered military defeat and were enslaved by Babylon. I believe that we in America also worship at Molech’s altar. We worship sex in this country it is everywhere. Movies, television, magazines, etc…. what was considered soft porn 10 years ago is prime time television these days. Our standards are so low. It has makes people crave sex. What usually happens when people have sex? You get pregnant. Then what do we do, we abort our babies in the name of convenience. Another sacrifice to our idol.
My heart has been broken over this issue. I am not angry at anyone. I just pray that we can see what abortion really is.
I recently became a member of Facebook. That is an interesting experience to say the least. It is nice to connect with old friends, but it takes so much time! I am going to try to update the rest of my testimony so some of my former mates who might stumble onto this websight can track with what’s been going on with me.
During these years I began to read the Bible. Over a period of time I read the whole thing cover to cover. There were a few things that really stood out. First, I was always led to believe from some of the teaching I was raised on that miracles did not happen. I was shocked that the Bible is full of super natural experiences. Second, for as much talk as we hear about the rapture, there is surprisingly little information about it. Lastly, not much is said about heaven. The passages we imagine to be about heaven is actually Jesus coming back to earth to rule and reign from Jerusalem.
It is amazing how far off much of the Church has gotten away from Biblical truth. Anyway I will share more on my “supernatural” experiences with the Lord later. Back to the story.
When I was going through the Bible I was struck by the book of Acts. When the Holy Spirit came upon people they were endued with a tangible power. I definitely wanted this power, but had no idea how to receive it. Fortunately my faithful and true brother was meeting with an elder at the church I ended up attending many years later. Gabe, (my brother) ended up forcing me to meet with this man concerning the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. He pretty much forced me to go with him. That ended up being the best decision I ever made….Stay tuned!
Once again, I am not proofreading this.
We have tentatively selected February 21st as the evening for our partners bash. We will hold the event in Wichita. Just like last year there will be food, prizes, and of course us! This is our way of saying thanks for supporting us in our ministry. This is not only for those who support us, it is also for anyone interested in what we are doing, or just want to reconnect. However, the really cool prizes and the lobster (just kidding) is for the big donors (anyone who gives more than $1/month)
More information will be in our newsletter, and in future postings.
This is a shout out to the House of Prayer in Hattiesburg. We stopped by to visit Dennis Aldy and his amazing family on our way to Disney World. We recently met the Aldy’s through a mutual friend (thanks David Ridder) and already feel a connection with them. We were thoroughly impressed with their operation. It is definitely small, however they have some amazing and dedicated people running with them. It was great to see God raising up is House of Prayer in Hattiesburg.
